Don't worry if you're new.SpellSmasher is a phone tool that helps you
write a spell list for World of Warcraft. You copy that list into the
SpellSmasher addon on your PC. The phone never plays the game for you -
it only builds text you paste in.
Set your character level (70-90) so Icy Veins starters, the spell picker, rebuilds, and
export only keep abilities you can unlock at that level.
Hover a spell name/icon or talent in the tree for a full description (dark tip — needs network for Wowhead text).
Start here if you’re brand new:
(1) Complete sample walkthrough
(Demon Hunter · Vengeance · Annihilator — every step with real choices), or
(2) Full how-to (Parts 0–10, any class).
Same path for every class; only class/spec/hero change.
In-app coach tour (v21):
The tour does not auto-popup. A Tutorial button sits in the top bar on
every visit (F5 always brings it back). It flashes until you finish or skip
once, then stays as quiet Replay tour. It walks a new pack start-to-finish,
including Guide / SpellSmasher, hero path, modes, loops, Advanced, a dedicated
Best for my spells step (opens the talent tree), and Export. Also:
Show in-app tour or ?tour=1. Esc skips.
After the tour, follow the Vengeance sample once with real clicks.
Trademark / affiliation: SpellSmasher is an independent tool.
It is not made by, endorsed by, or affiliated with Blizzard Entertainment or the authors of any third-party WoW addons
(including sequence/macro tools). Addon names or slash commands appear only to explain how you import your list into the game.
Not Blizzard's one-button assist.
The in-game Single-Button Assist is adaptive. SpellSmasher builds a fixed list you control
(great for fewer keys / accessibility). It cannot read procs or fight for you.
Words you'll see: Sequence = one full spell list (like "My Arcane ST"). ST / AoE = single-target (bosses) vs packs of enemies - most people want both. Step / spell = one ability in that list. Sequence addon = a WoW addon that runs your spell list when you mash a key. Export string = a long code (starts with !SpellSmasher!) you paste into the SpellSmasher addon Import (/ssm).

? Lost sequence?
An update does not delete packs. Lists live in your WoW account file, not in the zip.
In the addon this is the Lost sequence? button next to Tutorial (or /ssm lost).
Tell players this first: List → All packs (not This class). Many “missing” lists are just filtered.
Check hidden, not deleted. Log into the same class. /ssm → List → click All packs. Other-class lists stay on the account.
Last session backup. Fully exit WoW (not only /reload). In
_retail_\WTF\Account\<their account>\SavedVariables\
rename SpellSmasher.lua to SpellSmasher.lua.broken,
copy SpellSmasher.lua.bak to SpellSmasher.lua, then log in.
.bak is only the last logout.
They have a pack string. Import tab → paste a line that starts with !SpellSmasher! → Import.
Import adds packs. It does not wipe what is still there.
They built it on this site. Export SpellSmasher pack → Copy → Import in /ssm.
No backup. In-game Set me up makes new Icy Veins ST + AoE. That is not their old custom names or order.
Going forward: List → Export all → Ctrl+C → paste into a text file. That string is the full backup.
This is the whole journey for someone who has never used SpellSmasher.
Follow the parts in order once. After that, you’ll only need the short steps.
What you are building:
A pack = one named spell list + optional talent code.
The website writes the pack. The free SpellSmasher WoW addon
runs it when you mash one key. The site never plays the game for you.
Not Blizzard’s Single-Button Assist.
That is a different Blizzard feature. SpellSmasher is a fixed list you control
— great for fewer keys. It does not “see” procs or play for you.
Part 1 — Install the SpellSmasher addon (PC)
Get the SpellSmasher addon folder onto your PC (from your download / CurseForge / friend / project zip).
Put the folder here (names must match):
World of Warcraft\_retail_\Interface\AddOns\SpellSmasher\ Inside you should see files like SpellSmasher.toc and SSM_UI.lua.
Start (or restart) WoW. On the character select screen, click AddOns and make sure
SpellSmasher is checked / enabled.
Log in. Type /ssm (or /spellsmasher) in chat. A SpellSmasher window should open.
If nothing opens: log out fully, confirm the folder path, enable the addon, log in again.
Footer / version: in-game you want a recent addon (e.g. 4.0.40+). The website version is separate
(e.g. 2.1.x in the site footer).
Optional first time: tap the flashing Tutorial button in the app top bar (or Show in-app tour).
On the home list, tap + New pack (or + New).
Pick:
Icy Veins pack — guide-style spell order + talent package (great default), or
SpellSmasher pack — Engine (CD-aware) order + the same talent package.
Set class, spec, and character level (70–90).
Wrong class = wrong spells. On a wide screen, class chips wrap so you can see them all.
Optional: set the role chip (Single target / AoE / Hybrid) — this is a label for you;
the addon still runs one list on the pack you set Active.
Look at Your spells — each row is one ability you mash. Mode tags mean:
Once (fire once), In order (recipe), Priority (try top first), optional Rev Pri.
Row tools: − / + times inside the block, ↑ ↓ reorder, ✎ edit, × remove.
Tap a row only if you want Easy helpers on that one spell.
Optional comfort switches under Easy helpers:
Auto-attack / Re-target — list-wide comfort lines
Hold Ctrl = interrupt — kick while holding Ctrl (needs an interrupt on the list)
Hold Shift = defensive — pick a spell in the list first, then turn On
Optional: rename the pack (e.g. My Vengeance M+).
Important — Save your work: edits are not auto-saved.
Tap Save (top right of the editor) or ← Back (top left) to write the sequence to your list.
If you close the tab or leave without Save/Back, changes can be lost.
Nothing auto-saves while you edit.
Changing spells, class, helpers, Icy Veins rebuild, talents, etc. only updates a temporary draft.
Save (top bar) or ← Back stores it. Export still works from the draft (you get a string),
but your home list only updates after Save or Back.
One pack = one mash list.
There is no secret second ST/AoE key inside one pack. Want two buttons (boss + packs)?
Make two packs (or Dup in the addon) and bind two keys later.
Icy Veins vs SpellSmasher buttons (under the spell list) rebuild this sequence for the
hero path you picked above them:
Icy Veins — Icy Veins mash order + talent package.
SpellSmasher — Engine (CD-aware, mash-optimized) order + the same talents.
Confirm if you already customized a lot — then hit Save or Back so the rebuild sticks.
Part 3 — Export the pack from the website
Still in the editor, tap the green button: Export SpellSmasher pack.
Use Copy, Share, or the QR so the string reaches your PC
(Messages, email, Notes, Discord DM to yourself, AirDrop — anything that keeps one full string).
The string must start with !SpellSmasher! and must not be cut off at the start or end.
Level-honest export: the pack only includes spells you can unlock at your
character level, and it stores that level on the pack. At 70–79 you’ll see a shorter list
(hero/Apex talents open later). Raise level → rebuild or re-export for a fuller list. This is intentional.
SkipExport optional sequence string unless you know you need a third-party wire format.
That optional string is for format compatibility only. Day-to-day players only need
Export SpellSmasher pack.
Part 4 — Import the pack in WoW
Log into the character that will use the pack (same class/spec is best for talents later).
Type /ssm to open SpellSmasher.
Click Import.
Paste the entire!SpellSmasher! string into the box (Ctrl+V).
Confirm. The pack is added to your list (Import does not wipe your other packs).
You should see your new pack name in the List tab.
If import fails: re-copy from the site, paste into Notepad first to check it starts with
!SpellSmasher!, then copy from Notepad into the addon. Update the addon if you’re on an old version.
Part 5 — Make it Active and bind a key
In the SpellSmasher list, select your pack.
Click Active (or “Use”) so this pack is the one the mash button runs.
Bind SpellSmasher (one-button) to a free key (many people use a mouse side button or an easy keyboard key).
You can also bind: CLICK SSMSeqButton:LeftButton if you use click-casting tools.
Remember:Export in the addon exports the pack you selected.
Active is what you mash. They can be different — select carefully.
Part 6 — Apply talents in the addon (matches the pack)
The spell list can mash even if talents don’t match — but you may try spells you don’t have,
or miss talents the list expects. Best practice: press Apply so the pack’s
talent package fills your points in-game.
Apply overwrites your current loadout.
It updates the talent loadout already selected in N (the dropdown name stays the same).
It does not create a new named loadout. To add a separate loadout name, use
Copy → N → Import and type a new name in Blizzard’s import box.
Any level: Apply spends only the talent points you have along the Icy Veins package.
Level up and Apply again for more. Full Guide needs max points (usually level 90).
From me saves YOUR live tree on the pack if you don’t want Guide.
In /ssm, open your pack in Edit.
Click green Apply (out of combat). Best/Guide run automatically if needed.
Optional: open N to confirm the tree — same loadout name, updated talents.
Copy only if you want a new loadout name via Blizzard Import, or Apply failed.
From me anytime: save YOUR live tree on the pack instead of Guide.
Apply
Primary path. Overwrites the loadout you already have selected. Does not add a new dropdown entry.
Best / Guide
Attach or restore the guide talent string on the pack (preview). Apply does Best automatically.
From me
Snapshots your live talent string onto the pack (class|spec match). Use when you want your tree, not Guide.
Copy
Fallback: Ctrl+C → N → Import. Use this when you want a new named loadout.
SpellSmasher never auto-imports talents when you mash Key 1 — that is intentional.
You choose Apply / Best / Guide / From me / Copy. Mash only casts the spell list.
Part 7 — Test on a dummy, then play
Find a training dummy (or a safe pull).
Make sure your pack is Active.
Mash your bound key at a steady pace (not “as fast as humanly possible” on day one).
You should see spells from your list only fire in order / priority.
Try helpers if you turned them on:
Hold Ctrl for interrupt (if enabled)
Hold Shift for the defensive you attached
How combat works (simple):
One cast per mash click for the main Priority triangle (top of the Priority list is tried more often).
Sequential (“In order”) spells walk in order. The addon always advances; it does not invent spells that aren’t on the list.
Part 8 — Change the list later
On the website:
Open the sequence card → edit spells (add, reorder ^ v, change Once / In order / Priority tags).
Or tap Icy Veins / SpellSmasher to rebuild from a starter order.
When you’re happy, tap Save (top right) or ← Back — otherwise the home list still has the old version.
Export SpellSmasher pack again → Import in-game (adds another pack, or replace by deleting the old one first if you prefer).
After any change: Save or Back. Closing the browser mid-edit does not keep spell/helper/talent edits.
Part 8b — Advanced options (what’s inside)
Under the spell list, tap Advanced options to open the drawer (the in-app tour opens it for you).
You can ignore Advanced on day one; open it when you need talents or fine-tuning.
Talent tree → Open tree — Class / Spec / Hero picker. Best for my spells matches talents to the spells already on your list (see Talent tree). Save & add spells only adds missing Guide-rotation spells — different button.
Talent loadout (CUk…) — Icy Veins packs fill a string for the tree on this site. In game: Apply overwrites your current loadout in N. Or Copy → Ctrl+C → N → Import for a new loadout name. Full Guide needs max-level points; under 90 use your own tree or From me.
Talent scan — Scan only; reports which list spells look talent-gated. Does not rewrite your order.
Notes — private reminders; no combat effect.
Sequential loop times — how many times the whole In order block cycles before moving on (default 1).
Priority loop times — how many times the whole Priority block cycles (default 1). Not the same as per-spell ×N on each row.
Extra macro variables — optional KeyPress-style lines; Easy helpers cover most people.
More export formats… — extra tabs (talents text, spell list, macros, optional wire). Daily path is still the green Export SpellSmasher pack.
Dup to copy a pack (full deep copy — safe to edit the copy).
New pack → Icy Veins or Engine for a fresh starter on this character’s class.
Talents: Edit → Apply (overwrites your current loadout in N — does not create a new one). Copy only if you want a new loadout name. From me saves your live tree on the pack.
Part 9 — Don’t lose your work
Website: home Backup downloads a JSON of your sequences. Use Restore later (merge or replace).
Clearing browser site data can wipe phone sequences — keep a Backup of anything important.
Addon: Export selected (or export all if available) and save the !SpellSmasher! string in a text file / cloud note.
WoW SavedVariables live under your account’s WTF\Account\…\SavedVariables\SpellSmasher.lua — only touch that with WoW fully closed.
Part 10 — Go the other way (game → website)
In WoW /ssm, select a pack → Export (copy the string with Ctrl+C when prompted).
On the website home, tap Import.
Paste the !SpellSmasher! pack → confirm.
Open the sequence: spells and modes load; if a talent loadout was included, Advanced / Open tree can light up selections.
This is how you edit on your phone what you already use in game, then re-export back to the addon.
You’re done with the full path when:
(1) pack is in /ssm, (2) it is Active, (3) a key is bound,
(4) optional: Edit → Apply talents (overwrites current loadout; does not create a new one),
(5) dummy mash casts your list. Everything below this page is extra detail.
This is a worked example of the entire path — website build through dummy mash —
with real class/spec/hero choices filled in. You do not need a Demon Hunter to learn the UI;
swap your class at step 3 and keep every other step the same.
Why this sample?
Vengeance is a tank with a clear Guide lean (Annihilator hero path),
solid Icy Veins/Engine packs on the site, and easy dummy testing.
Product rules you will see: one mash list per pack, level-honest spells,
castable spells only (no talent passives on the list),
hero path chips lock the Hero tree, Save is required, Apply overwrites the current N loadout.
PC: SpellSmasher addon installed under
World of Warcraft\_retail_\Interface\AddOns\SpellSmasher\, enabled on character select.
In game, type /ssm — the window opens (if not: enable addon, full relog).
Browser: open spellsmasher.com (phone or PC). Footer should show a recent theme (e.g. v2.2.20+).
Optional: run the flashing Tutorial tour once so you recognize the buttons, then come back here for the full real pack.
This sample assumes: you are learning on a level 90 Demon Hunter Vengeance
(or you will pick your own class at step 1 and still follow the same clicks).
Under max level works too — set the real level; export stays level-honest (shorter list is normal).
Step 1 — Create the pack (home screen)
On the home list, tap + New pack (or + New).
Choose these exact sample settings (or swap to your class):
Class: Demon Hunter
Spec: Vengeance
Hero path:Annihilator (lean for Veng; the other chip is Aldrachi Reaver)
Character level:90 (or your real level, 70–90)
Starter:Icy Veins pack (Icy Veins mash order + talent CUk).
Alternate: SpellSmasher pack = Engine CD-aware order + the same talents.
Confirm create. A new card appears on Home (name may look like a Icy Veins/Engine label — you will rename next).
Tap the card body (or Open) to enter the editor.
Import instead?
If someone already sent you a !SpellSmasher! string, use top-bar Import and skip create —
still open the card and continue from Step 2.
Step 2 — Name, role, level (editor top)
Name: type something you will recognize, e.g. Veng Annihilator M+.
Role chip: pick AoE or Hybrid if this is your dungeon mash list
(labels only — the addon still runs one list for the Active pack).
Confirm level is still 90 (or yours). Changing level later can strip talent-gated spells (the app asks first).
Confirm class / spec chips still say Demon Hunter · Vengeance. Wrong class = wrong spells.
Above the rebuild buttons, confirm hero path chips: Annihilator is selected.
These chips lock the Hero talent tree (they win over spell-guessing).
Nothing auto-saves.
Every edit is a draft until you tap Save (top right) or ← Back (top left).
Do not close the tab mid-walkthrough without Save/Back if you care about the draft.
Step 3 — Easy helpers (optional comfort)
Under the name block, find Easy helpers. Sequence tools cannot “see” procs —
helpers add hold-mod lines. For this sample, turn on only what you want:
Auto-attack — On (comfort for melee tanks)
Re-target — On if you want a re-target line while mashing
Hold Ctrl = interrupt — On (Vengeance interrupt is Disrupt; it must stay on the list or be available for the helper)
Hold Shift = defensive — optional: pick a defensive already on the list first, then On
Skip helpers entirely if you only want a plain spell list — the pack still works.
Step 4 — Your spells (the mash list)
Scroll to Your spells. Icy Veins pack already filled rows (Brand package, Spirit Bomb / Soul Cleave style dual path, Fel Dev, etc. — exact names follow the current Icy Veins data).
Read the mode tags on rows:
Once — fire once (openers / setup)
In order — recipe chain
Priority — try higher rows more often (main mash triangle)
Rev Pri — reverse priority (advanced; leave alone first time)
Row tools (each spell): − / + or ×N = times inside the block · ↑ ↓ reorder · ✎ edit · × remove.
Hover a spell name/icon: dark tip with description and, when known, Cast / CD / GCD chips (needs network for Wowhead text). GCD base is 1.5s; haste shortens in game.
Castables only: pure talent passives are not sequence steps. You will not get a fake /cast for a passive talent — that is intentional.
Optional rebuild under the list:
Icy Veins — restore Icy Veins order + talents for the selected hero
SpellSmasher — Engine order + same talents
Confirm if you already customized a lot.
Do not expect a second ST key inside this pack. Want a pure single-target list later?
Make a second pack (or Dup in the addon) and bind another key.
Step 5 — Advanced (optional, but do it once)
Scroll under rebuild and open Advanced options.
Talent tree → Open tree — Class / Spec / Hero tabs like the game. Confirm Hero shows Annihilator (chip + tree stay locked together).
On the tree toolbar, tap Best for my spells once:
it reads Your spells, scores known packages by name cover, and paints talents that support your list.
Status line shows match/cover %. This is not a live DPS sim.
Close the tree when done. Back in Advanced, note the talent loadout (CUk…) field —
Icy Veins packs fill this for Apply/Copy in game.
Optional: Talent scan — labels baseline vs talent-gated spells; does not rewrite the list.
Leave Sequential / Priority loop times at 1 unless a guide says otherwise.
(Spell-row ×N is different from whole-block loop times.)
Skip Variables and More export formats for this sample.
Step 6 — Save, then Export
Tap Save (top right) so Home keeps this pack — or plan to use ← Back later (also saves).
Tap the green Export SpellSmasher pack (desktop: right column; phone: bottom bar).
Copy / Share / QR the string to your PC
(Messages, email, Notes, Discord DM to yourself — anything that keeps one full string).
Check: string starts with !SpellSmasher! and is not cut off at the start or end.
Skip the grey optional sequence string / third-party wire unless you know you need it.
Day-to-day path is only Export SpellSmasher pack → /ssm Import.
Level-honest: export only keeps spells unlockable at the level on the pack.
At 70–79 the list is shorter (hero/Apex open later). Raise level → rebuild or re-export for a fuller list.
Step 7 — Import in WoW, Active, keybind
Log into your Demon Hunter · Vengeance (or the class you actually built).
Import appends — it does not wipe other packs. Find Veng Annihilator M+ (or your name) on the List tab.
Select that pack → Active (this is what the mash button runs).
Bind a key:
Esc → Options → Key Bindings → search SpellSmasher
→ bind SpellSmasher (one-button) to a free key (mouse side button is popular).
Active ≠ Export selection.
Export in the addon exports the pack you selected on the list; mash uses Active. Select carefully.
Step 8 — Apply talents
The list can mash without matching talents, but you may try spells you don’t have.
Best practice for this sample:
Out of combat: /ssm → select the pack → Edit.
Click green Apply. Best/Guide attach automatically if needed.
Apply overwrites the talent loadout already selected in N — same name, new points.
It does not create a new named loadout.
Optional: open Blizzard N talents UI and glance at Class / Spec / Hero (Annihilator).
Want a new loadout name instead? Use Copy → Ctrl+C → N → Import → type a new name.
Prefer your own tree? From me saves your live tree on the pack.
Under max level: Apply spends only points you have along the Icy Veins package; level up and Apply again later.
Step 9 — Test & play
Target a training dummy (or a safe open-world mob).
Mash your bound key — you should cast down the list (Priority tries higher rows more often).
Hold Ctrl if you enabled interrupt helper; hold Shift if you set a defensive helper.
If a spell fails: check talents (Apply), wrong hero path, or level-gated ability — fix on site or Edit → Apply again.
If it “double-casts” or feels sticky: check Advanced loop times are 1; don’t mash faster than GCD forever expecting extra casts.
You’re done with the sample when:
pack is imported, Active, keybound, talents Apply’d, and dummy mash walks your Vengeance list.
That is the full product loop.
Step 10 — Repeat for YOUR class
Same clicks; only the identity chips change:
+ New pack → your class / spec / hero / level → Icy Veins or SpellSmasher.
Rename · helpers · glance at spells · optional Advanced / Best for my spells.
Save → Export SpellSmasher pack → /ssm Import → Active → keybind → Apply → mash.
Optional second pack for a different role label or a trimmed ST list; bind a second key.
Backup: on the site home, use Backup (JSON of all sequences).
In game, Export the pack to a text file / cloud note. Clearing browser data can wipe phone lists.
More classes as separate samples are optional later. One complete walkthrough teaches the whole product;
class gold lives in Icy Veins/Engine data when you pick your chips.
On the site: + New pack → class / spec / level → Icy Veins or SpellSmasher pack.
Optional: Easy helpers On; tweak the spell list if you want.
Save (top right) or ← Back so the list keeps your edits (nothing auto-saves while you edit).
Green Export SpellSmasher pack → Copy / Share / QR to your PC.
In WoW: /ssm → Import → paste → set Active → bind key.
Talents: Edit → Apply (overwrites the loadout already selected in N — no new name). Or Copy → N → Import if you want a new loadout name.
Important: The app only shows spells and talents for the class/spec you picked.
If you chose Arcane Mage, you will not see Fire spells. That's normal.
Both directions:
Home Import pastes a !SpellSmasher! pack into this app (from the addon Export, a friend, or Desktop string).
Export SpellSmasher pack is the other way — site → WoW.
2 One pack (how it matches the addon)
SpellSmasher builds one mash list per pack — the same model as the WoW addon:
one sequence from Icy Veins/Engine aoeSteps (not separate ST + AoE keys).
SpellSmasher pack — Engine (CD-aware) order + the same talent loadout.
Loadout-honest — spells not on that talent export (e.g. Soul Carver on Annihilator) are dropped from the list.
Want a second list (e.g. pure ST)? Dup the pack in the addon or create another sequence here and edit steps.
Role chips (Single target / AoE / Hybrid) are labels for you; the addon runs the steps on the pack you set Active.
3 Easy helpers (On / Off switches)
Sequence addons do not "see" procs the way a combat bot would.
The simple workaround: hold Ctrl or Shift for interrupts and defensives.
Each helper is a clear On / Off switch - tap once to turn on, tap again to turn off and remove the line.
Auto-attack / Re-target - comfort lines on KeyPress (also in-game AA / RT)
Hold Ctrl = interrupt - class kick while Ctrl is held
Hold Shift = defensive - common defensive while Shift is held
In-game 13 / 14 (addon, next to DEF) — top / bottom trinket. Prefixes every mash with /use [nochanneling] 13 or 14. Not a list row. The pack does not carry those toggles (worn gear on that character).
These live under Easy helpers on the editor (no need to open Advanced). Green switch + On label means that helper is active for this sequence.
4 Trinkets, boots, belt (gear /use)
Don't pick named trinkets or engineering items. SpellSmasher uses equipment slots
so whatever you wear works. Slot rows on the site are optional list steps (a place in the order).
In-game 13 / 14 helpers prefix every mash and stay Off until you turn them on.
Use top trinket -> /use [nochanneling] 13
Use bottom trinket -> /use [nochanneling] 14
Use boots -> /use [nochanneling] 8 (e.g. Nitro Boosts)
Use belt -> /use [nochanneling] 6
Use gloves -> /use [nochanneling] 10
Use cloak / main hand / off hand -> slots 15 / 16 / 17
Use Healthstone -> /use Healthstone (bag item by name)
Find slot rows in the spell picker on every class (same list as Auto Attack / Stopcasting).
Where it lands: tanks and healers drop ground spells at their feet (@player) —
Blood, Vengeance, Guardian, Brewmaster, Protection (Warrior and Paladin), plus healer specs.
Infernal Strike always hops in place (@player), never a click-reticle.
DPS ground spells (Meteor, Blizzard, Rain of Fire, …) export @cursor.
5 The big buttons under your spells
Icy Veins vs SpellSmasher rebuild
Two full rebuilds rewrite your spell list and apply the talent package for this class/spec:
Icy Veins - Icy Veins mash order (adapted for one button) + talents.
SpellSmasher - our CD-aware Engine mash: long cooldowns in a short Seq burst band, mid-CDs and spenders before builders, kicks/walls stripped for Easy helpers. Still uses talent loadouts.
Engine uses approximate ability cooldowns for ordering a fixed mash list. It is not a live combat sim and does not replace Guide for manual priority play.
Rebuild details
What it does in plain English: throws away your current spell order and puts in a ready-made one-button list for your class/spec (based on Icy Veins guides stored in the app).
Use this when you want "just give me a good starting list."
It also fills talent info when we have it for that spec.
If you had weird extra spells, some may stay at the bottom.
This rewrites your list. If you customized a lot, save a note first or you'll lose that order.
New pack
What it does: creates one Icy Veins or Engine list (aoeSteps + loadout-honest filter + talent string). Same idea as the addon’s New pack / Rebuild.
Reset whole sequence
What it does: empties all spells, variables, and talent package stuff.
Keeps: name, class, spec.
Asks you to confirm first so you don't wipe by accident.
6 Building the list — modes, why, and loops
Your spells is the fixed list the addon mashes. One key has to decide
what to cast next without thinking — that is what modes are for.
Tap the colored tag (or Order) on a row to cycle:
Once → In order → Priority → Rev Pri.
Modes — how they work and why use them
Once (per combat)
How: fires on the first pass, then the addon skips it until you
leave combat or retarget a new enemy (same pack string on the site builds the list; the
in-game runner enforces the skip). Why: openers you only want at pull — Brand, Mark, etc. Not a full Priority spam spell.
In order (Sequential)
How: recipe — mash advances #1 → #2 → #3 in fixed order. Why: setup that must happen in a line (Brand → Meta → Sigil). Same-mode rows form one Sequential block (badge Seq ×N).
Priority
How: main spam list. Each mash tries from the top of this block more often (priority triangle). Why: fillers and “always try this if ready” spells. Put highest priority higher on the list. Badge Pri ×N.
Rev Pri
How: reverse triangle — bottom of that block gets more attempts. Why: rare special cases. Most people never need it.
Typical build while making a pack:
short In order opener → long Priority filler.
Guide / SpellSmasher rebuild sets this up for you; change tags when you customize.
Two kinds of “more loops” (easy to mix up)
On the spell row (− / + and ×N) — run this one spell N times inside its Sequential/Priority block before the next row.
Why: double a builder without two rows (e.g. Fracture ×2). Once rows ignore ×N.
Advanced → Sequential / Priority loop times — after a whole block finishes, run that entire block again this many times.
Why: rare; e.g. repeat the full opener chain twice. Default both to 1.
Spell-row ×2 ≠ Sequential loop times 2. First = one ability; second = whole In order (or Priority) group.
↑ / ↓ — reorder; on Priority, higher = tried more often.
✎ — edit name/macro · × — remove.
Tap the row (green) — Easy helpers on that spell only; tap again to clear.
7 Advanced options - what is this box?
On the edit screen, scroll down until you see a line that says
Advanced options. Tap that line to open it (like opening a drawer).
You can ignore Advanced forever if you only want:
pick class -> rebuild -> export to addon.
Open Advanced when you want more control over:
Talent trees (like Wowhead)
Pasting a talent code from the game
Scanning which spells need talents
How many times loops run
Optional extra macro variables
Other export formats
Nothing in Advanced will break your game. Worst case you rebuild the sequence and try again.
8 Advanced: Talent tree (explained for newbies)
Where to open it
Edit a sequence.
Open Advanced options.
Tap Open tree.
What you're looking at
Three tabs at the top of the tree:
Class - shared talents for the whole class (e.g. all Mages).
Spec - talents only for your specialization (e.g. Arcane).
Hero - the small "hero path" tree (pick one path, not both).
Points (the counters)
At max level (90) you have the full budgets (same idea as in WoW):
Class 34 points max
Spec 34 points max
Hero 13 points max
In the talent tree sheet, use the Level dropdown (70-90).
At 70 you have full Class/Spec (31/30) but no Hero points yet. Hero opens at 71
and fills through 80 (+1 hero/level). Midnight adds 10 more points from 81–90
(+3 Class, +4 Spec, +3 Hero). Changing level trims any overspent picks.
Guide / SpellSmasher rebuild also uses your sequence's
character level: talent-gated Guide spells you can't unlock yet (not enough
points, gates, or Apex before 81) are skipped and listed in the summary.
Core abilities with no talent node stay in the list.
Each talent costs points. Many cost 1. Some cost 2 ranks (shown like 0/2). Big Apex ones can be 0/4.
The little badge on a talent shows current ranks / max ranks | cost. Example: 0/1 | 1pt means empty, costs one point.
Gates - "why is the bottom grey?"
On Class and Spec trees, Blizzard locks lower rows until you've
spent enough points higher up - not just 1 point. You'll see a gold bar like:
Need 8 points before the middle section opens
Need 20 points on Spec (or 20/23 on Class) before the bottom opens
Multi-rank talents count every rank toward that total (a full 2-rank talent = 2 points toward the gate).
Apex (the big 4-rank Spec talent) also needs character level 81+ and those 20 Spec points spent first.
Newbie tip: spend points in the top open section first. When the bar turns green / "Unlocked,"
the next section is ready. Hero trees unlock by parent links, not point gates.
Hero tree is different
Hero talents usually do not use those 8/20 point bars.
Instead, you unlock lower talents by picking the talent connected above them
(like climbing a ladder - step on the rung above first).
Pick one hero path (e.g. Spellslinger or Sunfury - not both).
Start at the top talent of that path.
Work downward; grey talents need a parent picked first.
Choice nodes (A or B)
Some talents are a fork in the road: two names, you pick one.
You cannot take both. The app shows them as exclusive choices.
Buttons inside the tree
Reset — clear your picks on this tree state (start over selecting).
Best for my spells — sequence-first talent match (see next).
Save & add spells — saves talent choices onto the draft. Only adds
missing Guide-rotation spells to your list (not every castable talent). Different from Best for my spells.
Best for my spells (what it really does)
This button is for when you’ve already built a spell list (custom or Guide) and want talents that
fit those spells — not a blind “always dump full Icy Veins gold” click.
Reads every spell on your sequence.
Finds talents that unlock those spells and infers hero/branch from them (e.g. Annihilator vs Aldrachi).
Scores known talent packages (+ alt hero packs) by how many of your spell names they cover.
Picks the closest package and paints the Class / Spec / Hero tree with
your spells first, then light support, then fills remaining points.
Shows a short status (how many spells matched, cover %, package name). The plan text in Advanced explains the match.
Honest limits: this is not a live DPS sim and does not re-research the meta online.
It matches your list against curated talent data and packages already in the app.
Hover talents after Best for my spells to read full spell text (needs network for Wowhead descriptions).
This tree is a helper. The exact in-game tree can change with patches.
For a perfect loadout, use the talent code from WoW (next section) or check Guide/Wowhead.
9 Advanced: Talent code (loadout string)
In Advanced you'll see a box for a long talent code (often starts with letters like CUk…).
That is WoW's talent loadout export — the same string you paste under Talents → Import in game.
When a pack already has a code
Import a !SpellSmasher! pack from the addon (or a friend) that includes a loadout → the code is filled in automatically.
Open the sequence, then open the Talent tree — SpellSmasher tries to select matching talents from that code (plus your spell list).
Icy Veins / Engine rebuilds also attach a curated loadout for many specs when available.
Decode is best-effort across patches. In the addon, use Copy → Ctrl+C → N → Import.
Full Guide strings need max talent points; under that, build your tree (or From me) rather than pasting the full CUk.
How to paste a code from WoW
Open your talent window (often N).
Export your loadout and copy the text.
SpellSmasher → Advanced → paste into the talent code box.
Tap Save, then open the Talent tree to see selections, or Export to addon so the next pack carries the code.
If the box only shows a short tip sentence, that's a placeholder — replace it with a real export when you have one.
Do I need this? Not required for the spell sequence to work in the addon.
Use it when you want talents carried with the pack, or so this site can light up the tree from a real loadout.
10 Advanced: Talent scan
Scan only looks at the spells in your list and reports which ones are
"normal baseline" vs "probably need a talent."
It does not change your spell list by itself.
Useful if you're wondering "why don't I have this spell in game?" -> often a talent.
Results show in the panel under Talent scan.
New players: if Scan says a spell is talent-gated, open the talent tree (or Guide guide)
and make sure you actually took that talent in WoW.
11 Advanced: Sequential / Priority loop times
Under Advanced options you will see two number boxes. They control how many times each
loop block runs in the SpellSmasher addon — not the little ×N on a single spell row.
Sequential loop times — the whole In order (Sequential) block: fire step 1, then 2, then 3… When the block finishes, it can start that block again this many times before the list moves on. Usually leave at 1.
Priority loop times — the whole Priority block (the main mash list, tried from the top). How many times that priority loop cycles. Usually leave at 1.
Per-spell ×2 / ×3 on a card is different: that only repeats that one ability inside its block.
Loop times repeat the entire Sequential or Priority group.
Newbie default: leave both at 1. Don't change these until something feels wrong in-game.
If combat feels odd after changing them, set both back to 1, then Save or ← Back.
12 Advanced: Extra macro variables
Variables are extra macro lines some SpellSmasher addons can run (for example when you press or release a key).
Most people never need them.
When would I use this?
You saw a guide that says "put this on KeyPress."
You want startattack / focus macros glued to the sequence.
How to add one
Advanced -> + Var.
Pick a preset (like KeyPress) or type a custom name.
Put the macro text in the box.
Save.
Wrong variable macros can feel "buggy" in-game. If you're new, skip Variables until your basic sequence works.
13 Advanced: More export formats
The green Export SpellSmasher pack button is what you want 99% of the time.
Level-honest packs: export strips spells your character level cannot unlock yet and
stores characterLevel on the pack. Raise level on the site, rebuild if you want the full
Icy Veins list, then export again. Spell picker and Icy Veins/Engine rebuild use the same level rules.
More export formats... opens a sheet with tabs (same names as in the app):
SpellSmasher pack / Addon string — the main export code (starts with !SpellSmasher!). Paste into the SpellSmasher addon Import in WoW (/ssm).
Talents - talent plan / loadout text.
Spell list - plain list of your steps.
Macros - each step's macro lines.
Help - short import reminder.
Tap Copy on that sheet to copy whatever tab you're viewing.
After a successful Copy of the addon string, SpellSmasher shows a short
In WoW next checklist (open /ssm, Import, keybind, talents, test).
Phone Import (home screen) is the other direction: paste a !SpellSmasher! pack into this app
(from the WoW addon Export, a friend, or a saved string). If the pack has a talent loadout, it is stored and applied to the talent tree when you open it.
14 Advanced: Notes
The Notes box is only for you - reminders like "use this for M+" or "swap defensives on tyrannical."
Notes do not change combat. Optional.
Install the free SpellSmasher addon on your PC under
Interface\AddOns\SpellSmasher\ and enable it at character select.
Log into WoW with the character you play.
On your phone (or this site), open your sequence and tap
Export SpellSmasher pack. Use Copy, Share, or the QR code to get the string onto your PC.
In game, open SpellSmasher (/ssm).
Open Import.
Paste the whole string (it starts with !SpellSmasher!).
Confirm import. Import appends — it will not delete your other packs.
Select the pack → Active → bind SpellSmasher (one-button) under Key Bindings.
Talents: pack Copy → Ctrl+C → N Talents → Import → paste. (Mash never auto-imports talents.)
On a dummy, mash your key. The addon walks your list only — it does not invent spells or change talents for you.
Phone ↔ PC paste tip: AirDrop, Messages, email, Discord to yourself, or cloud notes all work.
The whole string must stay one piece — don't cut off the start or end.
Addon → site: In WoW, select a pack → Export, copy the string, then on this site home → Import.
Spells, modes, and talent loadout (if present) load into a new sequence card.
See Part 10 of the full tutorial.
16 Put SpellSmasher on your iPhone home screen
Open the site in Safari (not only Chrome - Safari is best for "Add to Home Screen").
Tap the Share icon.
Tap Add to Home Screen.
Name it "SpellSmasher" -> Add.
Open it from your home screen like an app.
Your sequences save on this device (browser storage).
Use home Backup to download a JSON of the whole list, and Restore to load it later (merge or replace).
If you clear Safari/Chrome website data, sequences can disappear - keep a Backup of anything important.
17 Common problems (and easy fixes)
"I don't see my spells"
Check class + spec chips. Wrong spec = wrong spell list. Scroll the chips; more options are off-screen.
"Import failed in my addon"
Copy again. Paste the full string (starts with !SpellSmasher!). Update the addon. Use Export to addon / Addon string tab, not a plain spell-list tab by mistake.
"Talent tree looks wrong on the site"
Open Advanced and check the loadout code is a real CUk… export. Open the Talent tree again (it re-applies on open). Patches can change trees — for a perfect match, paste the same code under in-game Talents → Import.
"It double-casts" / feels weird
Usually spam speed or addon settings - not the phone. Try a slower mash, or check the addon's sequence options. Simplify to all Prio and rebuild.
"Talent is grey / locked"
Class/Spec: spend more points above the gate. Hero: pick the talent above it first. Or you're on the wrong hero path.
"Rebuild added nothing / wrong spells"
Your list already has every Guide-rotation spell, or that spec has no Icy Veins list in the app yet. That's OK.
"Guide / talents feel outdated"
The app uses curated static data. Check
Wowhead
after patches. Paste a fresh in-game talent export when needed.
"I wiped my sequence" / pack gone after an update
Follow Lost sequence? (All packs → last .bak → Import a !SpellSmasher! string).
Reset on the website cannot undo. Set me up only makes new Icy Veins lists, not old custom names.
Save / Back: edits do not auto-save. Top-right Save or top-left ← Back writes the sequence. Leaving without that loses draft changes.
New player path: install addon → site + New pack → class/spec/hero/level → Icy Veins or SpellSmasher →
Save or Back → Export SpellSmasher pack → /ssmImport → Active + keybind → Edit → Apply talents (or Copy → N → Import for a new loadout name).
Addon → site: Export selected in WoW (live talents when class|spec matches) → Import here. Advanced / Open tree can paint CUk.
Skip Advanced until that works.
Priority = main mash triangle (top more often). In order = fixed recipe every pass. Once = once per combat (skip until leave combat / retarget). Rev Pri = reverse triangle.
Icy Veins or SpellSmasher rebuild replaces this sequence’s spell list + talent package.
Addon string = !SpellSmasher! only. Optional !GSE3! wire is not required.
Talents never auto-apply on mash — always paste into Talents yourself.
Not a bot — you mash a key; the addon walks only what’s on your list.
